about beat the odds
Beat The Odds (BTO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving under-resourced youth (ages 14-24) in Boston’s low-income communities by using the transformative power of music and the creative arts. Through our Creative Youth Development Program, BTO offers a safe, nurturing space where youth can explore their creativity, heal from trauma, and unlock their hidden potential. BTO provides participants authentic mentorship and weekly hands-on programming centered around essential life skills, music production, content creation, dance, and artist development.
OUR MISSION:
To provide young people with the creative tools necessary to foster self-awareness, support mental health, and encourage healing from trauma through music and the arts. BTO is committed to amplifying the voices of Boston’s BIPOC youth, inspiring them to reclaim joy, embrace self-expression, and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
OUR VISION:
Beat The Odds (BTO) envisions a world in which all of Boston’s youth - regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or ability - have equal access to opportunities to be creative and the support necessary to heal from trauma. Now, more than ever, young people need as many healthy healing outlets as possible. Our hands-on approach to engaging youth, building confidence, and being a part of their creative journey has a demonstrated positive effect in promoting their mental health.
